ELIGIBILITY

The sessions are INVITATION ONLY based on the following criteria:

We are very pleased with the fact that there’s a wide variety of ways one can become eligible to C2K. We believe every kid playing rugby in Q has ample opportunity to gain eligibility via one of our pathways. If you require further information on any of the pathways it’s best to make contact with the people involved as C2K doesn’t run any of the programs listed below.

Essentially we have 4 ways of meeting our criteria.

1. GPS /AIC SCHOOLS

To become eligible, each kid must be a regular A side player in the season recently completed and come recommended by the school DoR. A regular A side player means at least 50% starting in all competition games. This means minimum at least 4 games in the starting XV for the regular competition season. Each player will receive 1 year eligibility. We accept players from 1st XV and each A side.

The FIRST ENTRY POINT is;

GPS - Fully completed 12A season ( Eligibility for end of year block as season completes in early September )

AIC. - Fully completed 7A season. ( Eligibility for end of year block as the season hasn’t been completed by our mid season block)

* This means 6A / 11A players are ineligible.
* Downlands College accepted as per GPS program.
*Ambrose Treacy accepted as per part of AIC program ( 7A and 8A players only are currently accepted)

2. SCHOOL REP PLAYER

Each and every kid is eligible for Queensland School Sport ( QSS) Rep teams and one has to nominate to trial for selection via their own school. Once a player is selected in a QSS Rep side they are given a 2 year eligibility to C2K.
All of these sides are selected before our mid season block.

There are 3 age levels for QSS teams;

U12/U15/U18.

FIRST ENTRY POINT is;

*QSS U12 Rep player who is selected to play in the State Carnival. Selections usually occur in May which makes them eligible for our mid year block. The carnival for U12 is usually in August. We understand a player could be 10 or even 11 years old and still make this rep selection, nonetheless we still honour the selection and allow entry despite the younger age.

3. CLUB REP PLAYER

Every kid that plays club rugby has an opportunity to become eligible for C2K by gaining selection in their regional rep side. The age groups are U12/U13/U14/U16 and they compete at the QRU State Championships held in July each year. This year it will be in Toowoomba again. These sides are usually selected and named by May, early June at the latest and therefore kids commence their 2 year eligibility period in the mid year block.

FIRST ENTRY POINT is;

*U12 Rep player selected for QRU State Champs from any of the regions and they become eligible for our mid year block once the teams have been named.

* Please note that Simon Abubakar and Oceania team selections DO NOT meet our criteria.

PLEASE NOTE: We also accept Far North Coast (NSW) players who represent at the NSW Country Junior Championships in U12-U16. These teams are selected by April and therefore have their 2 year eligibility start at our mid year block. This means first entry point is U12 for mid year block.

4. QLD REDS (underage team selection.)

There are 3 age groups where players have the opportunity of being selected in a QLD Reds team.
They are;

Qld U15 Junior Gold Cup x 3 ( Red, White and Blue teams),

Qld U16 National Junior Championships x 2 ( Red and White teams)

Qld U18 Academy team x 2 ( Red and White teams)

All of these selections, like the other rep teams, give a player a two year auto entry into C2K.

We hope this explains everything. There are no other entry points into C2K except these strict criteria and all applications are to be approved before any participation occurs. This means no player can just show up before they actually inform C2K. This happens via email or FB messaging first.

* C2K reserves the right to revoke any application and players are continually assessed by our panel of coaches to ensure standards are maintained.
* Players are eligible to a maximum of 18 years of age.

*GIRLS criteria at present is not as wide as the boys because a rep pathway is just being established so we expect this to change in the coming year. At present it has only 2 entry points. They are;

-QLD U15 and QLD U17 seven-a-side player selected for National Championships. This selection usually occurs in September just in time for our Post season block where the two year auto entry commences.
